This beautiful little village on the edge of the city was mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 and today contains 14 listed buildings. Spread along one single street, itself of medieval origin, the village has some amazing holloways and a 15th century structure known as Mackworth Castle gatehouse which may have been the entrance to a fortified house, long since lost
