Nightingale Quarter

This beautiful new estate is being constructed on the site of the old Derby Royal Infirmary, taking its name from the cities links to Florence Nightingale. Whilst much of the hospital has obviously been cleared away the council insisted that some of the historic elements were retained. So the ornate pepperpot towers have been incorporated into the development - one has recently opened as a restaurant and, I believe, the other will eventually become a gym. Also saved was the historic Wilderslow House and some of the 19th century villas on Osmaston Road. It was nnot possible to photograph these at the moment as they are covered in scaffolding
